Haryana is a state in India. Historically it is a part of Kuru region of North India. The name Haryana is found mentioned in the 12th century AD by the apabhramsha writer Vibudh Shridhar (VS 1189-1230). It is bordered by Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to the north, and by Rajasthan to the west and south. The river Yamuna defines its eastern border with Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Haryana also surrounds Delhi on three sides, forming the northern, western and southern borders of Delhi. Consequently, a large area of Haryana is included in the National Capital Region. The capital of the state is Chandigarh which is administered as a union territory and is also the capital of Punjab. The name Haryana means the Abode of God from Sanskrit Hari (the Hindu God Vishnu) and ayana (home), although it may also refer to the lush green landscape of the state (from Sanskrit harit meaning green).

Ambala : This district has two sub-divisions, which is further divided into three tehsils, Ambala sub-division comprises two tehsils, Ambala and Barara and Naraingarh sub-division comprises only one tehsil, Naraingarh.

There are four Vidhan Sabha constituencies in this district: Naraingarh, Ambala Cantt., Ambala City and Mulana. All of these are part of Ambala Lok Sabha constituency.

Faridabad: Faridabad was one of the leading industrial cities of Haryana, a popular choice for setting up industry due to its proximity to Delhi and its location on the Delhi - Mathura road. Much before the advent of Gurgaon as the poster boy for industrial development in Haryana, Faridabad was the favourite destination of Industries. Faridabad is famous for Heena Production on agriculture sector while tractors, motorcycles, switch gears, refrigerators, shoes and tyres are other famous industrial products of the city.

However, in recent times it has fallen much behind the neighbouring towns of Noida, Okhla and Gurgaon in attracting new industry. The IT revolution has completely bypassed Faridabad, opting for the cities of Noida or Gurgaon instead. In part this was due to government apathy, in part due to the rising levels of pollution and congestion in the city.

Bhiwani: The district comprises five sub-divisions: Bhiwani, Dadri, Loharu, Siwani and Tosham. These sub-divisions are further divided into six tehsils: Bhiwani, Dadri, Loharu, Siwani, Bawani Khera and Tosham.

There are six Vidhan Sabha constituencies in this district: Bhiwani, Dadri, Loharu, Badhra, Bawani Khera and Tosham. Bawani Khera is part of Hisar Lok Sabha constituency and rest are part of Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha constituency.

Hisar: Hisar district is one of the 21 districts of Haryana state, India. Hisar city serves as the district headquarters. The district is also part of Hisar division, which is headed by a commissioner who belongs to the Indian Administrative Service.

Hisar was the largest district in Haryana until its reorganization. In 1966, some parts of Hisar were transferred to the newly created Jind district. In 1974, Tehsil Bhiwani and Loharu were transferred to Bhiwani district. Hisar was further bifurcated when Sirsa district was formed. Fatehabad district was later created as well.
